Climbing Hanging Rock and burger festival in Ballarat

Ok, I have been slack for posting but i feel like life has been hectic. I’ve had heaps going on. So here I am, back with plenty to post about.
In my farewells before heading to Japan in October, I had some great times with my gold bitty emy, and also my sister, brother in law and my nephew. Emy and I had a fun time in my home town before heading to nearby Hanging Rock to climb some rocks!

I’ve been going to Hanging rock since I was a tiny child. I couldn’t tell you how many picnics I’ve had and rocks I’ve climbed! If you’re heading out to the Macedon Rangers I would highly reccomend it. I could spend a whole day there to be honest!

Make sure you take you’re walkin’ shoes!

Heres a cute little GoPro Quik clip I put together as practise for Japan. I was pretty stoaked with how it turned out and honestly I didn’t have to change much from the pre edit. I just used the GoPro Quik app, which is nice and easy to use, plus they have some music on there to choose from or you can upload your own.

I have a few more to upload from my trip but I’ll keep that for my next post!

I also had a rad time with my sister (and fam) at the Ballarat Bi Annual Burger Festival! It was my sisters first proper time out of the house since giving birth to Atticus in June so she was happy to feel “normal” again, especially with a burger and cider in hand!

Philly cheese steak with Jalapenos, 😍😍 so amazing! So is Lake Wendouree in Ballarat! The botanical gardens are nearby and kms of path around this gigantic lake! Such a great backdrop to an awesome day. Ballarat really seems quite progressive, always heaps of festivals and events going on for all kinds of niches.

Felt pretty relaxed and confident with my outfit choice. Much inspiration from  Le Happy and some other fellow fashion bloggers/instagramers. Crop top, tartan pants amd sneakers. Topped off with a vintage leather backpack

Pants: DangerfieldPrincess highways

Shoes: Adidas Original Court Vantage

Crop: General Pants

Everything else: vintage/preloved

Sewing Sample – 60s Floral OutfitΒ

I’m so excited! I’ve just about completed my first 60s style floral bra and shorts set, along with matching scrunchy. I chose a dusty pale pink as a contrast lining on the set, (also as tribute to one of our current colour fads,) which will tie into one of my next sets πŸ˜„

Can’t wait to make more out of this fabric, its super cute, but I put together a little colour story with some other fabrics I already have as an idea for my first release of pieces this summer.

I would really love to hear your feedback!
Hoping to make another style of shorts and top, along with a skirt and basic dress in varied fabrics.

Lots of sewing to do! I have nearly finished my trial for the next style of shorts after yesterday’s RDO sewing day!

Keeping productive!!

What to Pack – Travel Style Inspiration

70 days until I’ll be boarding my first flight to Japan!

I now have Wednesday off each week, so i have more time for sewing (and mental recuperation.)  Today I did a mash of things, cleaned my bedroom and bedding, sorted out my sewing supplies, (played The Sims for about 4 hours,) and scoured pinterest for some outfit ideas for my budget trip to Japan this October.

I want my clothes to be easily rotatable and repeatable. Because I still need to spend some good money on shoes and a bag, I’m hoping to be able to take mostly the clothes I already own along with some well picked fillers, required items and “pop” pieces!

Obviously they also need to be able to sit in a bag for periods of time and my god, I avoid ironing even at home.

I also have a lot of thinking to do about shoes for day wear, dressing up and hiking.

This will be a timely process…

OOTD – Typical Melbourne Winter

Ya know when you just get up on the wrong side the bed? Eyeliner dont go on right. Miss your train. Its winter, anyside the bed is the wrong side in my opinion.

Add in a run of arse hole customers and you’ve got some messy looking angry Cake running down the street in Melbourne’s downpour rain with eyeliner down her face.

Only to travel home to the mountains to find my internet is not working. So after i took some quick snaps from the comfort of my bedroom before climbing back into bed and watching forest gump until i woke up to… still no internet.

So heres my first OOTD post from my phone. (Dont judge me im new)

On the bright side, i didn’t even know it was going to rain today but managed to pick a pretty appropriate outfit.

My mum has lent me this trench coat she bought in the 80s in london. I wrapped myself up and angrily marched down towards Melbourne Central Station.

Can’t beat a simple midi skirt with slits for a fast pace angry walk.
Had been eager to wear my mums coat with my Adidas Superstars, they were perfect for stomping through the huge puddles forming in the middle of the roads. Perfect day for leather shoes.

Thats all for now, bedtime.
