My new Etsy store! @cakeandlovedclothing

So I officially started my Etsy store “Cake and Loved Clothing,” at the start of March. This is something i have been wanting to do for some time so when it came to mid Feb this year I said to myself, YOU WILL OPEN YOUR ETSY STORE ON THE 1ST OF MARCH!

Naturally I’ve had some set backs, particularly dropping my phone in the toilet which it thankfully survived but my front camera hasn’t been working properly since and is the only option I have for a camera at the moment! Regardless, I had one piece completely ready to go, so added my first listing at 11.50pm on the 1st of March.

A small victory but a victory none the less!

My second piece was added the following week using my selfie camera and some photos I had taken before the toilet incident.

(Shop the Valerie 90s Preloved Velvet Tank Top here)

So with the help of my friends and their phones I will be slowly adding listings each week… (where possible)

At the moment I am just adding preloved clothing. Soon I will be adding in some hand made pieces made from fabric I have sourced (collected over the years and never used) then once my supplies run out I would like to move on to handmade pieces made from recycled fabrics along with some preloved and revamped (recaked) goodies. Creating a recycled vision for my little business, something I hold with upmost importance!

Many resources go into clothing manufacturing. When you throw away your clothes, they sit in the landfills. Not to mention manufacturing also requires huge energy resources. Recycling second hand clothing and repurposing fabric means that less raw materials are needed, less energy is used and less pollution is generated.

(You can read more about the importance of recycling clothing and fabrics here)

There are links to each piece shown here above and you can also find my Etsy store (here) you can also visit Instagram for updates @cakeandlovedclothing

I would love to hear your feedback 🙂

Hello 2018. Wait, it’s March.

Wow! Its already March (and I still haven’t posted.) Hope everyone is well on their way, getting those resolutions into place or planning for those goals and aspirations to get us through another year… maybe your next travel destination (or your next 7..)

Pants: Universal Store

Top: Preloved

Shoes: Dr. Martens

I brought in the near year with friends. We had some drinks and headed to a local park to hang out and listen to some tunes. I was so comfy in these pants. They are super flatteing but were also perfect for lounging on the grass!

I’ve been a bit up and down with my mental health so far this month but had put the expectation on myself yo get my Etsy store up and running for the start of March. I celebrated my minor victory at 11:50pm on the 1st of March, adding my first listing to my new Etsy!

Considering my set back I have decided to allow myself the month to get some more preloved clothing up and then hopefully get some handmade goods up soon!

On top of this I have made the decision to move to London in July to make it easier to travel some or Europe! I can get a British passport which will make things easy living and working on London and hopefully getting some good trips into Europe done to pick up more preloved goods!

Honestly if you live in the UK or really anywhere in Europe let me know, I would love to hear about some cool new places to see and super excited to meet some new people along the way!

Here’s to making a start to another of my yearly goals, blog posting more!

Wish me luck!

You never realise how much stuff you have until you move house

For the last year and a bit Ive been back with my mum and dad in the country, I occupied an average size bedroom, plus some clothing in another wardrobe in the house and my sewing things.

I did another “throw out” of clothes about a week before I moved, knowing i was going to be downsizing wardrobes. Not to mention I’d recommend doing this anyway when you’re moving. I still have so many clothes and now a few extra to recake and resell.

I decided not to get rid of this denim pinofore/ overall dress from sportsgirl. My mum bought it for me last Christmas and i think I’ve worn in once. Considering it was mum’s birthday and I was heading home I decided to bust it out

(New place is so bright! Great for photos! Not so great when you want a sleep in…)

Only staying here temporarily but hoping to make use of the nearby beach while i can so cute little dresses like this will be perfect. Just need to wait for the weather to catch up and realise its Summer here!

Dress: Sportsgirl

Shoes: Adidas Originals Court Vantage

Top: secondhand

Sewing Sample – 60s Floral Outfit

I’m so excited! I’ve just about completed my first 60s style floral bra and shorts set, along with matching scrunchy. I chose a dusty pale pink as a contrast lining on the set, (also as tribute to one of our current colour fads,) which will tie into one of my next sets 😄

Can’t wait to make more out of this fabric, its super cute, but I put together a little colour story with some other fabrics I already have as an idea for my first release of pieces this summer.

I would really love to hear your feedback!
Hoping to make another style of shorts and top, along with a skirt and basic dress in varied fabrics.

Lots of sewing to do! I have nearly finished my trial for the next style of shorts after yesterday’s RDO sewing day!

Keeping productive!!
