Moving To London – What To Do When I Arrive

Im in the process of filling out my application for a British Passport! Planning on moving over there in time for my birthday in mid July. I’m super excited and a little overwhelmed to say the least but I know its going to be an amazing adventure!

Over the next few months youll see a series of posts about my move and travel planning then no doubt another once I’m there – I’ll try not leave out any of the painful details no matter how embarrassing.

I’ve decided I will spend the first few weeks exploring London and perhaps some nearby cities in Europe. I’ll mostly couch surf and spend time deciding where to work and live whilst exploring before I get my fur baby Miley sent over (obviously once Im settled in!)

I’ll have limited money and want to make the most of my time unemployed by spending some time in some nearby European cities too, so have searched through Pinterest for some affordable yet exciting things to do when I first arrive in London along with the classic tourist attractions.. I’ve actually not been to the UK or Europe before so this is a whole new experience for me!

17 Breathtaking Walks In London

I love walking! Its the best way to see things so I figure some walking tours of London will help me find my grounding. This article by Buzz Feed has some great walks with route directions attached (Or you can buy the full directions and map for some at a small cost.)

21 Markets Every Londoner Must Visit

Along with walking, or rather whilst walking I would love to check out some markets! There seems to be quite a few regular markets around London many in the same locations on different days. This list again by Buzz Feed, even points out the types of things you may find at each market and to my excitement, which ones have vintage/secondhand goods!!

10 of Londons Oldest, Greatest Pubs

Londons Best Rooftop Bars

I’m so excited for all the history in London but the Aussie in me gets particularly excited by a good old fashioned pub! I’m sure London is full of them but narrowing it down to 10 along with the best roof top bars of London will help me save money… (and not get a terrible drinking problem.) I’ll probably make use of these lists in finding somewhere to have my 25th birthday when I arrive!

First Time In London – What To Do, See, Eat

This article covers all the bases. It has all your classic touristy sights along with some alternative options. Another great excuse to get my walking shoes on.

Speaking of walking shoes, I need to start thinking about what I will want to take, toss and buy for my move. Most likely leading into one of my next posts on this topic of moving to london.

I have a whole pinterest board for some fun activities, things to see and tips for when I arrive. You can check it out here.

If you have any suggestions leave me a comment, I would love to hear from you 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Hello 2018. Wait, it’s March.

Wow! Its already March (and I still haven’t posted.) Hope everyone is well on their way, getting those resolutions into place or planning for those goals and aspirations to get us through another year… maybe your next travel destination (or your next 7..)

Pants: Universal Store

Top: Preloved

Shoes: Dr. Martens

I brought in the near year with friends. We had some drinks and headed to a local park to hang out and listen to some tunes. I was so comfy in these pants. They are super flatteing but were also perfect for lounging on the grass!

I’ve been a bit up and down with my mental health so far this month but had put the expectation on myself yo get my Etsy store up and running for the start of March. I celebrated my minor victory at 11:50pm on the 1st of March, adding my first listing to my new Etsy!

(Shop the Katie Preloved Floral Detail Shirt here)

Considering my set back I have decided to allow myself the month to get some more preloved clothing up and then hopefully get some handmade goods up soon!

On top of this I have made the decision to move to London in July to make it easier to travel some or Europe! I can get a British passport which will make things easy living and working on London and hopefully getting some good trips into Europe done to pick up more preloved goods!

Honestly if you live in the UK or really anywhere in Europe let me know, I would love to hear about some cool new places to see and super excited to meet some new people along the way!

Here’s to making a start to another of my yearly goals, blog posting more!

Wish me luck!

Climbing Hanging Rock and burger festival in Ballarat

Ok, I have been slack for posting but i feel like life has been hectic. I’ve had heaps going on. So here I am, back with plenty to post about.
In my farewells before heading to Japan in October, I had some great times with my gold bitty emy, and also my sister, brother in law and my nephew. Emy and I had a fun time in my home town before heading to nearby Hanging Rock to climb some rocks!

I’ve been going to Hanging rock since I was a tiny child. I couldn’t tell you how many picnics I’ve had and rocks I’ve climbed! If you’re heading out to the Macedon Rangers I would highly reccomend it. I could spend a whole day there to be honest!

Make sure you take you’re walkin’ shoes!

Heres a cute little GoPro Quik clip I put together as practise for Japan. I was pretty stoaked with how it turned out and honestly I didn’t have to change much from the pre edit. I just used the GoPro Quik app, which is nice and easy to use, plus they have some music on there to choose from or you can upload your own.

I have a few more to upload from my trip but I’ll keep that for my next post!

I also had a rad time with my sister (and fam) at the Ballarat Bi Annual Burger Festival! It was my sisters first proper time out of the house since giving birth to Atticus in June so she was happy to feel “normal” again, especially with a burger and cider in hand!

Philly cheese steak with Jalapenos, 😍😍 so amazing! So is Lake Wendouree in Ballarat! The botanical gardens are nearby and kms of path around this gigantic lake! Such a great backdrop to an awesome day. Ballarat really seems quite progressive, always heaps of festivals and events going on for all kinds of niches.

Felt pretty relaxed and confident with my outfit choice. Much inspiration from  Le Happy and some other fellow fashion bloggers/instagramers. Crop top, tartan pants amd sneakers. Topped off with a vintage leather backpack

Pants: DangerfieldPrincess highways

Shoes: Adidas Original Court Vantage

Crop: General Pants

Everything else: vintage/preloved

What to Pack – Travel Style Inspiration

70 days until I’ll be boarding my first flight to Japan!

I now have Wednesday off each week, so i have more time for sewing (and mental recuperation.)  Today I did a mash of things, cleaned my bedroom and bedding, sorted out my sewing supplies, (played The Sims for about 4 hours,) and scoured pinterest for some outfit ideas for my budget trip to Japan this October.

I want my clothes to be easily rotatable and repeatable. Because I still need to spend some good money on shoes and a bag, I’m hoping to be able to take mostly the clothes I already own along with some well picked fillers, required items and “pop” pieces!

Obviously they also need to be able to sit in a bag for periods of time and my god, I avoid ironing even at home.

I also have a lot of thinking to do about shoes for day wear, dressing up and hiking.

This will be a timely process…
